Proton is not Linux, it's barely an option to play some older games, or an option for some players unable to not-play some games, even if we already have 5000+ native Linux games in 2024. Generally everyone sets it to priority 1 (it's the yellow arrow to the right of the mining clicky's at the bottom of the screen) but when you reload a game it resets to priority 4. and that's a LOW priority in DF. Check to see if you have given them other uniform based tasks like hunting/woodcutting. WebDF hack has a command to force dwarfs to drop shitty clothes.
